When you buy mobile phones, refrigerators and other products, in addition to care about function and quality, you will also pay attention to after-sales service. Various problems can also occur in the use of medical devices, and after-sales protection is required. However, in this regard, most domestic medical devices still have many problems.

Maintenance is difficult, the hospital is not willing to purchase

Large medical equipment is a symbol of hospital modernization and a platform for demonstrating its medical teaching level. Despite the lower prices of local medical equipment, many large hospitals still choose foreign brands. In the “2013 Medical Equipment After-sales Service Satisfaction Survey” conducted by the China Medical Equipment Association, 15 companies have achieved market share and can participate in the evaluation, most of which are foreign enterprise products.

The reason is still in the after-sales service. Some equipment directors of large hospitals reported that some medical device manufacturers did not provide reasonable preventive maintenance programs for hospitals; they did not conduct on-time inspections, telephone interviews and maintenance; and rarely conducted quality control training for hospital technicians. Some medical device contracts do not cover all parts of the equipment, the warranty contract price is too high, and no technical advice is provided.

"There are no professional sales teams for domestically produced equipment. Only a few people are represented. There are no problems in the equipment, and even the manufacturers can't find them. The complaints are even more sloppy." Wang Mingxiao, dean of the Coal General Hospital, said, "No one is repairing. The equipment can only be scrapped. As a result, domestically produced equipment will of course lose competitiveness in the face of imported products. The poor after-sales service makes many hospitals reluctant to purchase equipment from local enterprises.

A director of the Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics of a hospital told the reporter: "The hospital purchased a domestic color ultrasound machine five years ago and used a probe for more than a year." The director also said: "Most multinational equipment companies have their products and After-sales service has made a lot of promises, which are rare in local medical equipment. The hospital has spent a lot of money to purchase large-scale medical equipment, and enterprises should provide guarantees for equipment quality and after-sales service during the use process."

In addition, home medicinal devices such as electronic sphygmomanometers and blood glucose meters also lack after-sales calibration services. Not only affects equipment life, but also affects treatment.

After sale, equipment utilization is high

Although many multinational medical devices already have a high market share in the Chinese market, these companies continue to raise standards and focus on after-sales as a marketing strategy. They believe that after-sales service can effectively improve the utilization of equipment and avoid waste.

In 2013, GE China Innovation Center launched the “Intelligent Response Center”, completed the online connection with thousands of diagnostic equipments at different levels of medical institutions across the country, and launched pilot projects for start-up protection solutions with five hospitals in Shanghai.

Bao Gerui, general manager of GE Healthcare's Greater China Customer Service Department, told reporters: "The higher the boot protection, the more the machine can be used anytime, anywhere. The new after-sales service platform will provide medical equipment services from the past passive response failure. Mode, upgraded to proactively manage device output. This can help hospitals use equipment more efficiently, improve talent management and management skills, and provide comprehensive solutions for hospital operations management."
